Love To Live By God's Word.

In the time that king David lived, the books available to the believers were the first five books of Moses; the law (torah). Meditating on what God has inspired in those five books kept David wise and following God's direction. So David could say...

O how I love your law!

Psalm 119:97-8 Oh how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. Your commandment makes me wiser than my enemies, for it is ever with me.

We today have the sixty-six books of the bible not just five and we should be meditating on the whole book and especially on the commands that Jesus gave, for as Jesus said 'He who loves Him will keep HIS commands'.

Biblical meditation is muttering softly to yourself so you hear the word of God. The way to learn from and follow God is via the 'ears'. Faith comes by hearing and hearing, by the word of God.

The way that Satan uses to get people to follow him is the 'eyes'. You'll remember that David went astray when he stopped doing as he should, slept through the day and looked over his balcony and 'saw' Bathsheba. Eve 'saw' that the fruit was pleasing to the eye, and would make her wise, etc!

We are to keep 'listening' to Jesus. Through the seven letters to the churches and elsewhere Jesus keeps saying - 'He who has an ear let him hear what the Spirit says'!

Mark 4:8 And other seeds fell into good soil and produced grain, growing up and increasing and yielding thirtyfold and sixtyfold and a hundredfold.” 9 And He said, “He who has ears to hear, let him hear.”

The seed we take in from Jesus has the potential to give a return of 100 times, and the seed we sow into God's work has a similar potential outcome. But we have to listen to what God is saying to us so we will know His voice and where He is working.

As born again Christians we have been given the power to live by the Spirit and according to Jesus' leading. It's by Jesus living in and through us that we live lives pleasing to God.

We are new creations and can now follow Jesus since He has made us the righteousness of God in Himself. Meditating on God's word will help to equip us to do God's will and keep Jesus' commands, to believe on Him and to Love one another; yet it's not us who do it but Jesus who does it through us!

Best wishes for Grace and the Peace of Jesus.
