Every day that we submit our lives to following the plan of God for us, our soul (mind, intellect, conscience and emotions), the inner self, is being transformed to be like Jesus. Our inner self is being re-created to naturally follow a Godly lifestyle in keeping with the new perfect spirit we were given when we accepted Jesus as our Saviour.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

If you check yourself you may not feel that you are all new, but it's referring to you having received a new perfect spirit. The old has passed away and the new spirit which is like jesus' has come.

Our new spirit is in perfect agreement with Jesus. Now as our soul follows the promptings of the Holy Spirit we have a two to one majority over our body and we can do the work of God.

2 Corinthians 4:16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

We live according to the wisdom that comes from knowing God and the one that he sent, Jesus. Our lifestyle can now reflect the new life that God has put in us and we are being prepared to inhabit that glory that will be complete when our current fleshly bodies are replaced by spiritual bodies! This fleshly body is transitory but the one we look forward to is eternal.

We have Holy Spirit in us as a guarantee of our inheritance, so we do not lose heart.
