The Blesings Of Abraham.
Christians are beneficiaries of the blessing of Abraham. On accepting Jesus' death
on our behalf we were put into a New Covenant with God which is totally different
to the Law Covenant that the Children of Israel brought on themselves. As Christians
we belong to a better covenant which is built on better promises.
Galatians 3:11 Now it is evident that no one is justified
before God by the law, for "The righteous shall live by faith." 12
But the law is not of faith, rather "The one who does them shall live by them."
13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse
for us--for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree"-- 14
so that in Christ Jesus the blessing of Abraham might come to the Gentiles,
so that we might receive the promised Spirit through faith.
Because we have thrown ourselves on God's mercy and accepted Jesus' sacrifice
for sin we have been justified, not by works of the Law, but by faith in
Jesus.
And so we have received the blessing of Abraham and have been given
the promised Spirit, the Holy Spirit, through faith.
Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy
and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound
in hope.
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of power. He empowers us and fills us with joy
and peace and hope on believing in Jesus. These things are all fruit that
Holy Spirit will bring out in us if we let him. They're part of the blessing.
Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit
has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and
Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
What God can do through us is simply breath-taking. The power is in us by the
Holy Spirit to do all things through Christ who strengthens us. God has blessed us
to be a blessing, and all the things He blessed Abraham with can be ours if we put
God first.
Best wishes for Grace and the Peace of Jesus.
Attlee.
