About Healing - Expect Different Things!
In one place Jesus said that believers would do even greater things than He did.
Some say this is referring to getting people saved because Jesus saved no-one
during His earthly life. I don't buy that one myself because everyone who is
saved is saved through the life, death and resurection of Jesus, so actually
He has saved everyone! But He did say we would do greater things than He did.
John14:12 Very truly I tell you, whoever
believes in me will do the works that I do, and they will do even greater
things than these, because I am going to the Father. 13 And
I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
14 You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.
So, believers who actually believe, have the promise of doing greater things
in their lifetime that Jesus did in His, if they have faith and ask it in
Jesus' name. Paul, the apostle to the gentiles was one such believer
and the scriptures record that when items of clothing which had been in
contact with him were sent to the sick, the sick recovered! That's certainly
something that never happened to Jesus and it's still happening in the lives
of believers today! You can see the scriptural reference in Acts 19:11-12.
Acts 19:11 And God was doing
extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul, 12 so that even
handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin were carried away to the
sick, and their diseases left them and the evil spirits came out of them.
Now as with all supernatural healing, success depends on the faith of the
person praying for the sick, the faith of the person being healed
(or their guardians/parents if they are children), and the faith/lack of
unbelief of the hangers-on. This was true in Jesus' day and limited the
healing Jesus could do; it limited the healing that the apostles could do;
and it will limit us today, so that we are unlikely to have 100% success.
So don't let nay-sayers stop you from healing the sick as Jesus told His
followers to do. Your bit is to pray in faith telling the mountain to throw
itself into the sea and don't doubt. The rest you can inform people about,
but it's mostly out of your hands! Just believe and speak the word and act
in concert with the faith level of the people you pray for, as revealed to
you by Holy Spirit.
If they believe a cloth from a man/woman of faith will heal them; you, the
man/woman of faith, send/give them a cloth! If they believe being anointed
with oil by the man/woman of faith will complete the healing, anoint with oil!
If they believe laying on of hands is sufficient, lay hands on them, in a
sensitive manner of course! If the word is enough, then command healing, in
the name of Jesus of Nazareth!
Act on YOUR faith and on the information Holy Spirit leads you to understand
about their faith requirements and then see the results!
Best wishes for Grace and the Peace of Jesus.
