Satan Has Been Judged!
When we look at what Holy Spirit does in encouraging us to live lives
pleasing to God we cannot avoid the definitive passage in John Chapter 16,
verses 8 - 11 and what they tell us. Notice in verse 11 how Holy Spirit will help us to realise thoroughly that it's Satan who has been Judged and not us Christians!
Take another look at John 16: 8-11 and see what Jesus says about judgement..
John 16:8 And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and
righteousness and judgment: 9 concerning sin, because they do not believe
in me; 10 concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you
will see me no longer; 11 concerning judgment, because the ruler of this
world is judged.
Notice carefully that Jesus says that Holy Spirit would give us the
conviction that it's Satan, the ruler of this world, who has been judged.
That is why James could say to us, "Submit to God, resist
the devil, and he WILL flee from you".
Jesus has defeated Satan. We have been given authority to enforce that
defeat when he tries to bring trials into our lives. Being submitted to
God, when we resist Satan he HAS to flee.
When you understand how much Jesus has done for you and what is your
standing with God, and what authority you have delegated to you once you
accept His sacrifice on your behalf, you can see why Jesus said that,
"He who has been forgiven much, will love much"!
Col 2:15 Having disarmed the rulers and the
authorities, He made a show of them in public, having triumphed over them
in it.
Jesus has defeated Satan and Holy Spirit will remind us that it's Satan
that has been judged! We on the other hand have been made the
righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
2 Cor 5:21 God made Him who knew no sin to be sin
on our behalf, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.
You and I, as Christians, knowing this, and knowing how much we owe God,
and how much He loves us, love our Heavenly Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit
with a love that has no ending!
Best wishes for Grace and the Peace of Jesus.
Attlee.
