Not just you, your whole household!
While salvation is a personal thing between you and God as you realise your
sinful condition and accept Jesus as the propitiation for your sins, we see in
Acts 16:31-34 here that once you come under God's protection the way is opened
up for all your household to understand the gospel (good news) and turn to
Jesus also.
On an occasion when Paul and Silas were thrown into prison God used an earthquake
to break their chains and release them. They did not escape from the prison
though they stayed inside!
When the jailor awoke and saw the prison doors thrown wide open he was about to
kill himself when Paul called out to him in a loud voice,
"Do yourself no harm, for we are all here.
We can see how the jailor reacted if we follow the story in Acts, Chapter 16,
verses 29 and 30.
Acts 16:29 Then asking for a light he rushed in and
fell trembling before Paul and Silas. 30 And leading them outside, he
said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?
Paul and Silas had the perfect answer.
Acts 16:31 They replied, “Believe in the Lord Jesus,
and you will be saved —you and your household.”
Acts 16:34 The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them;
he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole
household.
Here in the book of Acts God gives us an example of how your conversion can be an
influence on your family for their good and all can come to know Jesus as Saviour
and Lord.
You know the love and the benefits you have received from God. Never give up and
think that your family will not appreciate what a good God we worship. You follow
God as he guides you via Holy Spirit and see how he will work in your life and the
lives of your loved ones.
Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,
declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Our God is a GOOD God!
Best wishes for Grace and the Peace of Jesus.
Attlee.
