God loves us and always will. We can push Him away by our actions but it doesn't change His love for us. Nothing we do will make him love us less and similarly nothing we do can make Him love us more!

God wants us to learn from Him and take on His character. He wants us to love Him just as He loves us. One obvious point though that God makes is, 'How can we say we love Him when we haven't seen Him, if we don't show love to the people around us (our neighbours) whom we can see"? It's a good point!

In 1 John 4:11-12 God tells us this through the Apostle John.

1 John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.

When we are aware of the love of God in us and live in that love, His love will be perfected in us and we will, out of that fountain of love, be able to love our neighbour and love God.

We need to experience and live in God's love and His love shed abroad in our hearts will enable us to love neighbour and love God as we should. It's not our human love but God's perfect love in us which does it!
