Just as kings will seek out those who are wise, they will also seek out those with knowledge. And better yet those who have both wisdom and knowledge!

Proverbs 18:15 An intelligent heart acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge. 16 A man’s gift makes room for him and brings him before the great.

The starting point and the end point for knowledge though is Jesus Christ. As Paul tells us in Philippians 3:8 and we also learn elsewhere, to know Jesus is of surpassing worth. Wisdom. knowledge, grace, eternal life!

Philippians 3:8 Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.

Paul knew, and knew that he knew, that everything he desired was to be found in Jesus. Only one who is God can supply the wisdom, knowledge, righteousness and holiness to enable us to live lives pleasing to God!

1 Corinthians 1:30 And because of him (God the Father) you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, 31 so that, as it is written, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord (Jesus).”

Everything that is best for us comes from our revelatory knowledge of Jesus. So seek wisdom and with wisdom seek knowledge of Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
