In the account that is recorded in the gospel of Matthew Jesus says that our attitude in drinking in the knowledge of God will make the difference between being in the kingdom of God and being left out! We must have a teachable spirit and be humble before our God.

Matthew 18:1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” 2 And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them 3 and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.

In another place we are told that if we humble ourselves we will be exalted later. Moses and Joshua were both exalted by God for humbling themselves and following His lead.

Joshua 4:14 That day the LORD exalted Joshua in the sight of all Israel; and they stood in awe of him all the days of his life, just as they had stood in awe of Moses.

God wants to exalt us also and give us the kingdom.

Colossians 1:13 God has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son.

Now, to have this happen, the heart attitude he wants has not changed,

Matthew 23:12 Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
