When the disciples started a debate on 'who was the greatest' Jesus led them to understand that whether the knowledge you received came from a youth or an elder the correct attitude to have was that Jesus was speaking to you. Once you were living that attitude you would have Jesus and God the Father living in you. You would receive Jesus and the Father in other words!

Luke 9:46 An argument arose among them as to which of them was the greatest. 47 But Jesus, knowing the reasoning of their hearts, took a child and put him by his side 48 and said to them, "Whoever receives this child in my name receives me, and whoever receives me receives him who sent me. For he who is least among you all is the one who is great."

The one who is great in God's eyes is that one who will receive His teaching humbly from whatever vessel God chooses to use at that time.

We have much to receive from God and as God Himself is the greatest gift He gives. As Charles Spurgeon said regarding Christ Himself being 'meek and humble at heart'....

... regard these words as being a commendation of the Teacher himself. "Come unto me and learn; for I am meek and lowly in heart." As much as to say, "I can teach, and you will not find it hard to learn of me."

We need always to have that humble attitude of our great teacher, Jesus, as we receive teachers of righteousness and that same childlike attitude as teachers, so we will be filled by the Spirit and receive Jesus and also receive God who sent Him.
