Holy Spirit - Our Guarantee Of Good!
Holy Spirit has come into us and will stay with and in us forever
according to Jesus and in the passage below we see Paul confirming
that every promise God has made is YES to us in Christ Jesus. The
promises to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob; the promises to Israel; the
promises of Deuteronomy 28:3-13 and any others that God has made;
Holy Spirit is our guarantee that they are available to us and that
our anointing as children of God, to live in His blessings, is
sealed in and permanent!
2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises
of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we
utter our Amen to God for his glory. 21 And it is God who
establishes us with you in Christ, and has anointed us, 22
and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our
hearts as a guarantee.
The part we play is to believe God and His Christ and grow in
knowledge of Him and in grace. From that position of God's strength
residing in us we will naturally do the things of God. Through
knowledge of God we will know God's love and then naturally love
God and love people, as one example.
1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one
another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born
of God and knows God. 8 Anyone who does not love does not
know God, because God is love.
Notice how it's from having been born of God who is love that we
are able to love one another. And conversely, 'verse 8' tells us that
if you do not know God you are unable to love as you should.
The ongoing link through all this is Holy Spirit living and
working in us as our guide and comforter and teacher. That is
why Jesus said it was to our advantage that He should go and
the Holy Spirit should come to us.
This principle of - 'Know God and Jesus, know their heart
requirements, and then naturally follow our guide', applies to
all areas of our walk with God. So knowing God, let's take
advantage of God's gift to us of Himself and listen to and walk
after the Spirit.
Best wishes for Grace and the Peace of Jesus.
Attlee.
