The godly love that we show to others is a reflection of the love that the true God has for us and showers on us. Our God loves us so much that He gives us His love to shower on others! He backs up the love we can give to others!

It's interesting that God says if you claim you love Him but hate your brother you are a liar and don't actually love God at all! What we see around us often though is people who hate their fellow man and even think that is OK if they can gain from it and their religious beliefs will actually give them an excuse to do it. People can be following Satan as their god while speaking as though they are following the true God. Our God genuinely loves. It's not a lie.

1 John 4:19We love because He first loved us. 20 If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. 21 And this commandment we have from Him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.

You can tell where people are coming from though by what 'their' god allows. Is their god as devious as they are so that they have no conscience about lying while at the same time believing that they are following a holy life?

People can do this if the God of their heart is a deceiver also! But the last part of the scripture above gives us the clue to what the True God expects of His true followers.

1 John 4:21 And this commandment we have from Him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.

The true God is a God of love and a God of truth. His followers follow that path also!
