The Holy Scriptures tell us a lot about the Holy spirit so that we can establish in our minds that He is a person and not just an inanimate power of God.

The Holy Scriptures also tell us that He pours out His attributes in us who allow Him to take hold of them as we submit to God. Have a look at the book of Romans, in Chapter 15, verse 30.

Rom 15:30 Now I urge you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me...

Here Paul asks the brethren to pray for Him by the love of the Spirit. He in one sentence tells us that Holy Spirit loves and that that love is directed towards us.

Holy Spirit in us reveals Jesus the Christ to us, then sets Jesus before us as the model and aim of the scriptures and as we yield to Him and are guided by Him, Holy Spirit forms Jesus in us.

Rom 5:5 Hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

Holy Spirit pours His love, the love of God, into our hearts so that we...
-Love God. We love God because He loved us first and it's Holy Spirit who brought that love to us.
-Love Jesus. The Son of God who died for us demonstrating the love of God.
-Love the brethren. Godly love towards the brethren is demonstrated when we love God.
-Love the world. We have God's love in us when, as God does, we love all people and want them saved as much as He wants them saved.

Love is the primary attribute of the Holy Spirit because God is love. Everything else will stem from that as it does with God.

We should be humbled as we realize that Holy Spirit, the third member of the Triune God loved us so much to come down and live in us.
