The Power Of The Tongue.

The Bible teaches us to guard our tongue because, life and death are in the power of the tongue. But God gives wise advice to all those who are ready for it!

“There is one who speaks like the piercings of a sword, but the tongue of the wise promotes health. The truthful lip shall be established forever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment.” (Proverbs 12:18)

“Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking guile. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.” (Psalm 34:13)

“A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth, and from the produce of his lips he shall be filled.” (Proverbs 18:20)

“Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one.” (Colossians 4:5)

“The mouth of the righteous is a well of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked.” (Proverbs 10:11)

“A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.” (Proverbs_15:4)

“Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the bones.” (Proverbs 16:24)

“Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, but a good word makes it glad.” (Proverbs 12:25)

“A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise uses knowledge rightly, but the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness.” (Proverbs 15:1)

“He who guards his mouth preserves his life, but he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.” (Proverbs 13:3)

“The heart of the righteous studies how to answer, but the mouth of the wicked pours forth evil.” (Proverbs 15:28)

“But those who rebuke the wicked will have delight, and a good blessing will come upon them. He who gives a right answer kisses the lips.” (Proverbs 24:25)

Resist The Devil

“Open rebuke is better than love carefully concealed. Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” (Proverbs 27:5)

“He who rebukes a man will find more favor afterward than he who flatters with the tongue.” (Proverbs 28:23)

“Blows that hurt cleanse away evil, as do stripes the inner depths of the heart.” (Proverbs 20:30)

“Therefore, putting away lying, each one speak truth with his neighbor, for we are members of one another … let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.” (Ephesians 4:25,29)

“Do not be a witness against your neighbor without cause, for would you deceive with your lips? Do not say, “I will do to him just as he has done to me; I will render to the man according to his work.” (Proverbs 24:28)

Do not speak evil

“A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who speaks lies will not escape.” (Proverbs 19:5)

“Do not speak evil of one another, brethren.” (James 4:11)

“Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who deal truthfully are His delight.” (Proverbs 12:22)

“Getting treasures by a lying tongue is the fleeting fantasy of those who seek death.” (Proverbs 21:6)

Do not gossip.

“But shun profane and vain babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. And their message will spread like cancer.” (2 Timothy 2:16)

“In all labor there is profit, but idle chatter leads only to poverty.” (Proverbs 14:23)

“A talebearer reveals secrets, but he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter.” (Proverbs 11:13)

“A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city …” (Proverbs 18:19)

“A perverse man sows strife, and a whisperer separates the best of friends.” (Proverbs_16:28)

But, “The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters; the wellspring of wisdom is a flowing brook.” (Proverbs 18:4)

“Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips.” (Psalm_141:3)
