Say To Your Mountain - Go!

When Peter reacted in astonishment that the fig tree Jesus cursed because it was not producing fruit as it claimed had died, Jesus went on to teach another lesson.

We can see the lesson I'm thinking of now written up in Mark 11:23...

Mark 11:23 “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.

It's interesting that Jesus tells us here we must 'say to the mountain what we want to happen!' This tells us that God has delegated the power to move mountains (whatever problem we may be facing, including a mountain!) to us and we have to command the needed results to manifest.

In other words 'we tell our mountain about God', 'we don't tell God about the mountain'! We can see how this is so when we look at how Jesus sends his disciples (before and today) out into the world. He tells us in Matthew 10:8 that as we go, we are to "Proclaim the gospel, Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead and cast out demons". He tells us WE are to do it, not ask God to do it". Just as He does not tell us to ask God to proclaim the gospel! Jesus is consistent.

Now this does not mean that God will not answer prayers which plead and beg Him to do it, but I think that He wants us to learn that like the brother of the prodigal son (Luke 15:31), we have free access to all that is the father's and should be acting as sons and daughters who are advancing the interests of the family, whatever the situation in which we find ourselves.

You have the power in you as a child of God, through Holy Spirit. Don't doubt. Have faith. Say to that mountain, "Go! And, believe that you have received, when you pray!"

Best wishes for Grace and the Peace of Jesus.
